cnn.com — The company behind the Web browser Opera is weeks away from submitting it to Apple's iPhone store for approval, a spokesman said Friday. The result, according to the Norwegian company, would be a browser up to six times faster than the iPhone's default Web tool, Safari. The open question is is whether Apple will approve the application.

FAIL! That FAQ question applies to Opera Mini before version 3 (hint: long time ago) and the MIDP1 versions of OM 3.Opera mini 3 MIDP2 and 4 and 5 all do p2p encryption, regardless of whether the site was secure or not.If you're so paranoid about Opera checking or traffic, then also though about your ISP, and all the nodes between you and the websites you connect to.http://www.opera.com/mini/help/faq/#security

apple customers are happy. it's always the people without apple products that are constantly bashing apple for the features they think the products they have no intention of ever purchasing aught to have.

I dont see Apple approving this because at some point, Opera will try and bring its unite platform and that would mean we can use the iphone/ipod touch as a web server and be able to share pics/docs and other media to friends and family et al... This would simply not be tolerable to Apple. But for those whose iPhones/ipod touchs are free from Apple's grasp can probably find Opera in Cydia

Apple does NOT need to approve this junk application. Probably will have Flash active to cause crashing nonstop! As everybody knows Opera CEO has 2,000K Adobe shares. I prefer the standard browsing experience on my iPhone, even if it is a bit slower.

Mr. Bicycleman, you are either an Opera employee or you have no clue that Opera Mini is fast because it downloads the webpages to their servers and then sends you a compressed copy. You are placing all of your private information that you enter on webpages into their hands when you use their product.I don't want or need Opera mini.
