gigaom.com — New data from M:Metrics for the month of January confirms that folks who own an iPhone tend to do more entertaining things on their devices — such as watch video and visit social networks — than those who own smartphones. However AdMob points out that iPhone users are still a relatively small part of the overall mobile phone market in the U.S.

So owners of a consumer-focused smart phone are doing more consumer-type tasks on them than smart phones marketed to corporate users... imagine that!

Does anyone else interpret the article to mean that iPhone users are more likely to be saddos with no real world friends? Whilst iPhone users are on facebook trying to find a friend, smartphone users are in the pub with their mates having a beer.

Sure it is, but they are more expensive imported. There's a bunch of cel dealers with iPhones in their display cases, already unlocked.I'm waiting until its legit here, but I did get an iPod touch and cant wait for an iPhone.

Nice try, but no. I looked into one, and decided it didn't live up to the hype, and that I'd rather have something else. The price of it was never an issue.

Funny how you assume I can't afford it -- I originally bought into the hype, but when I got my hands on one, it didn't live up to the expectations. Cost was never an issue, especially since I spend more than that on my hobbies every couple of weeks.

You DO know that when you pull out your laptop to " get wifi almost anywhere I go " that the guy with an iPhone or Touch can also use that VERY SAME wifi connection? The other day I was at a Bus Stop, and a guy had his laptop balanced on his knees. He had found an open wireless access point and was doing some web surfing while waiting for the Bus. I pulled out my Touch from my shirt pocket and was able to sit back and relax while browsing on a much brighter screen than his laptop, and the Touch was a hell of a lot lighter (and smaller).
