macrumors.com — It looks like someone at Apple has started more extensively testing the Apple iPhone across web sites, including MacRumors.com.One reader tipped us off that they had come across iPhone browser identification strings in the Apache logs of their eBay images. After this tip, we were able to confirm similar findings in our own logs.

Yeah, my site has a few dozen page hits as well. Landed on the site searching for "iPhone" and then went on to various places inside, just browsing. All from 17.* land. And then there's the session from Comcast with the same UA ... sometime took the toy home.

I don't whether to digg you up for making me laugh or digg you down for not having the cat use an iPhone as a nunchaku.

Yeah, but unlike Microsoft and Delmonte, Apple is gay.

Yeah, the IP address is from Apple, but Apple has other computers, obviously, and those could have been used in conjunction with a user-agent spoofing tool. MacRumors didn't find it themselves, either. They wouldn't have known before someone tipped them off about it, which might have been aware of the prank.

"How many people can afford a 500 dollar phone?"----------------------Lots of people.

@dle5: I am by no means poor. I'm not going to go into a 2 year contract with a carrier I don't like, to use a phone with a touch screen that will be superseded within 6 months. I am not going to comment on my current financial position because frankly that is anti-social.I don't see the big fuss about being on the bleeding-edge of technology. I just want a phone I can do my daily stuff with (email, photos, calendar.. and you know.. call people).. I can do that fine with my current phone. I might think about upgrading in a few months.See I can tell I won this one because you're resorting to personal attacks. If you really get moist over stupid ways to waste your money, thats more than fine with me, just realize that your new shiny iPhone won't stay new and shiny for long.
