alleyinsider.com — Earlier this spring Japan looked like one of Apple's most promising markets for iPhone 3G (AAPL). But even a price cut isn't helping the gadget take off there. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the iPhone per se: It's a problem with the Japanese handset market, which has a ton of high-end phones at competitive prices.

My problem with Apple isn't their products. It's the fact that some people believe that owning a Mac or iPod makes them cool and creative. That being said, the price differential isn't as great as you believe and certainly not the "half the price" you quote. Gaming on Macs can be done but is limited as would be any machine running Intel's GMA graphics. Go back to school.Exactly what features are you missing that you magically have on this "half-the-price" phone ($100)? Me personally? I can wait until the Touch Pro or the Dream comes out.

The phone companies aren't the ones transmitting TV signals, so there shouldn't be any monthly fees for it.

Oh please, for all you know, I could be some sort of crazy pathological liar and made the whole thing up. I mean, that's your basic argument, right? -- that I'm trying to deceive you by withholding information.Or, you could ask an intelligent question, like "based on how much sales?", to which I would respond that our sales were decent enough & the conclusion strong enough that I thought it was worth taking the time (both mine and yours) to post it on digg.

Too much regulation. It'd take a while for O2 for example to start networks here in the US with competitive pricing (read: no charging for ****ing incoming texts).

Most phones have live TV now hereJust an example:http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=GAO2PLDmIQg&fmt=18I have a Sharp SH704i that I got about a year ago. Here's a review in English that I just found with Google:http://www.letsgomobile.org/en/1937/sharp-tv-phone ...I'm starting to want an iPhone though because of the ability to watch youtube. I find that I don't actually like Japanese TV that much.
