My understanding is that Apple didn't want to do video until they could it "right", and video on the 2G and 3G sucked because of the bad camera and slower processor. The jailbroken ones really produced pathetically bad video.
I think the difference in updating between Windows Vista and Windows 7 is a totally different thing between updating the iPod Touch firmware. It has revolutionary new features which change how you use the operating system in a big way, it has a new style, tonnes and tonnes of new features from small things which you may only notice once up to things like the dock-taskbar which you will use and find useful all the time. The iPod Touch firmware has search which i'll use once every few weeks, copy and paste which i never really needed and which is ridiculously basic functionality and landscape mode which should've been there in the first place. It has new features which aren't revolutionary at all. Nobody had taskbar previews of windows before, everybody had copy and paste before. They're incomparable.
Worked for me, the internet tethering option is now opened up. Will my iPhone be telling my network operator that I'm using tethering when I hook up my laptop or is it all just the same old internet to them?
Whoa, decided to go through with it anyway and it worked like a charm. Thank you for saving me 10 bucks (I'm already after paying $20 in software updates for this thing... I couldn't take making it $30, sorry Apple... but that s**t is ridiculous. Piss off.)
@ProjectGSX If your phone is unlocked with iPwnage than it will stay unlocked as long as you do an update, what you lose is the Jailbreak. So, if you want 3.0, just make sure you unlock it with iPwnage, and update it.

I think its funny (Or perhaps a little tragic..) that this is a 3.0 release but we still can't put a simple custom sound alert on new text messages..
