Apple being a control freak? I'm guessing your cell service is not through Verizon. I would love Apple's "control" compared to what i have now...... if AT&T didn't have such crappy coverage, and their phones didn't interfere with audio gear.

Great point. We have triangulation already which obviously requires network. GPS will really only be a big upgrade if it works without service.
