publictivity.com — Here's my second app for the iPhone... instant messaging. Its still a little rough, but check it out. Its server intensive, so I'm limiting sessions to 10 minutes for now. Source is available, though its a little tricky to configure.

Is there a way to make this keep you logged in even if you aren't currently "browsing" it? That way you could close safari on the iphone, then come back later and get all your missed messages or pick up on old conversations?? It would be fine if you hosted it yourself (as I plan on doing and I assume many others are too)

is it technologically feasible to have distributed hosting - kind of like bittorrent?

I second rstrb8r. I would not use this if you have to enter a username/password.

I typed that in and it did nothing. I'm using Safari. Am I missing something?

ok I'm sorry if I just sound like a huge idiot for asking this, but what exactly is iphonechat? Is it a program you can download for your iphone that lets you use AIM? or do you have to use Safari and go to a website to use it? I know this is probably a dumb question, but i would appreciate the help, the only thing holding me back from getting an iphone is the fact it doesnt have ichat. Thank you
