When I was looking around for hosts I came across hosting-review.com (though the site isnt loading at the moment for some reason). The impression I got was they were ranked by how much referral they get, but now I learn even that is small change for them! They must be raking it in. Glad I did a search on digg for a promo code giving the max $97off Dreamhost hosting instead of handing the referral over to these guys. When I want to check out the hosting sites I've got in the habit of copy/pasting URLs on ranking sites like those instead of clicking on links, to make sure I avoid affiliate links/tracking - also when no url shows in the status bar when you hover your mouse over the link, then you know they're trying to hide something with Javascript.
Hosting-Review.com is a fraud. Great story. Sad thing is there are plenty more sites just like this... Phony review sites for everything from books to dildos.

use www.epichost.org for host reviews its a user moderated site just like digg but its for host reviews.
