I thought that google made a statement saying that they didn't want to try to compete with or replace Paypal. They were focusing on other forms of micropayments for various online services and a respectbles etailer payment method for the likes of amazon.

so are we against free market now then?

I heard about a new site that lets folks trade televisions. What is the site?Has anybody used swapstar dot com? They have local sales, something ebay just won't get (don't know why they throw away billions by not having local auction search). I am told they offer coupons for local vendors -- why hasn't ebay done this? What a bunch of sleeping billionaires. Guess we're witnessing a public economic mugging, where the mugger has just turned into the clumsy, blind, unthoughtful oaf, who is stumbling over itself by using monopoly power instead of competitive innovation. I am loving this. Capitalism at work -- right before our eyes. The intellectual bankruptcy of a monopoly, versus an aggressive, rich challenger capable of running circles around ebay. We will all learn a lesson here -- stay on top or be prepared to get mugged. I want to laugh, but I was actually rooting for ebay, because they were pioneers. But now they are like the carcase of an elephant, lying in the way of the fun e-commerce. The market will move them out of the way like a tracktor pushes road-kill off the hot, black highway.

If i buy ad from google, I should be able to put whatever offensive content(video, picture, music) in the ad? Since google is only a medium for seller (ad buyer) to buyer (ad viewer), it should not limit what the ad buyer and what the ad viewer want to see.

Recently spotted on an auction in eBay.Seller's payment instructionsPayments can be made via PayPal, and only via PayPal. I would allow Google Checkout, but eBay is a monopolistic company, and since they own PayPal, they don't allow Google Checkout. Oh well. I thought it was funny.

We should kwow that Ebay and google are not exactly going same field. I am pretty sure that ebay and paypal got annoyed by google checkout but it shouldn't effect that much :( . http://qqbq.info/sitemap.htm

Well, it's been nearly half a year since this occurred, and no major developments.. I guess it's safe to assume we won't be seeing a Google auction site anytime soon :/

I just closed my account at ebay and half.com, damn I been with them since day one, will now close my account with paypal, yeah I know a bitch ass thing to do, I love competition but I love when people work together more... good luck ebay, but there are so many other services out there and ebay is getting to a point that it is much better for other things than me purchasing single items easily, here comes the backlash

Google should ban the word 'Ebay' from their search engine or have it point to another auction site. Ebay profits would go down 30% right away!

sissy1972Jul 29, 2007
I wouldn't think it will take a year as ebay keeps kicking people off....

Great submissions and great site. I agree with the coments about eBay as well and options are out there. For example, I found another alternative to ebay and they allow you to choose Google Checkout or PayPal - you get to decideCheck out: http://www.pricebeats.com/They give you your own storefront for FREE and you can post ads cheaper than anywhere else with that type of technology. It's very professional. And they are offering a PROMO right now for your first 3 ads for FREE!!!

Ebay is a giant when it comes to auctions. As a ebay buyer, I love it.As a ebay seller, it is such a crappy website to sell on.There is MUCH better out there.Ever since john danahoe became CEO, he basically took a milti billion dollar company and drove it into the ground.Good job John.Anyways there is a simple idea to eliminate this problem.google please make a auction site, and then see who comes on top.We ALL know it would be google.

You might want to check out the new innovative auction website - http://www.bestebazaar.com.
here the sellers and buyers both are in a win - win situation.
bestebazaar.com is a for of auction where the price falls the whole time until someone buys it, while the price for the seller increases till the auction ends.
Sellers list their items for sale and buyers buy at the lowest price.
Image an ebay seller has posted an Ipod / laptop , etc for sale and the buyer buys it at a price lower than its retail price while the seller gets paid an amount which is higher than the retail price.
