concretesurf.co.nz — Alright, I'm sure some of you know about this, but I just wanted to get the word out. deadmoo over at the Mac OS X for Intel forum is working on creating a DVD of OSx86 that will install on any machine via a patching system to the original developer's DVD.

7of7,I have the ultrabay slim hd sled; I dd'd the patched 6 gig image that was released a few days ago onto an extra Toshiba slimline 30 gig laptop hd. I then set that drive as the primary hd and booted VERY quickly into OSX86.And I did it all from within Windows. If Apple would release OSX86 seperate from the hardware, I would quickly slap down $130 for it. Their hardware has been s**t for years, the OS rocks witht the hardcore.

"OSX86 CANNOT share a drive with another OS. It needs everything to itself. Typical Apple primadonna style. :)"What exactly do you mean by "share a drive"? Do you mean Dual booting? OS X can dual boot with windows. There are guides on how to do this.If you mean you can't see a windows drive in OS X, yes you can. You just have to mount the NTFS drive. If you mean you can't connect to a network drive, Sure you can. OS X comes with samba. Go -> Connect to server -> smb://servername

This is GREAT!!!! My dream has come true, no more looking and waiting for Apple to come out with faster hardware. Feeling ripped off by their slow CPU's. Now CPU speed worries are the thing of the past with Intel. Also OS X runs on cheap hardware. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, APPLE you rule!!!

dimitrius, yah I guarantee all this faster than G5 stuff is bulls**t. I have never used a G5 and don't expect my Pentium M too be anywhere near as fast (but uses much less power, isn't that one of the main points of the intel move). I was thinking of going with a Mac when I bought my laptop but feature wise there was just no comparison, my Asus laptop looks pretty slick (while not as nice as a P-Book I admit) and actually has the features I want (widescreen, huge res, dvd burner, good gfx card). Now if I can get the OS I want I'll be happy as a clam.

?my favorite is the idiots who are all "Runs faster than ANY G5." - how would you broke morons even know. You've never owned a G5. And honestly... do you think your Centrino can really match a G5? c'mon..."I'm not one to argue that the architecture behind the G% procs isnt any good. But I'd feel confident saying that its becoming more and more obvious that x86 archicture is more efficient overall at running OSX and its software. I use dual G5's at school with Shake and a few other media intensive programs. And I also have been using these same programs on my Venice core AMD64 at home with OSx86. I myself was suprised to see how fast it ran on the AMD64. I myself believe that this could be the best choice Apple has made in a long time as far as its OS side has gone. I'm back on Jobs' side.
