hopefully the casino will lose far more than 209,000 in bad press. It is their screw up one way or the other. They should pay up and take it out with the slot company.
There's even a better way to think of not having it both ways. It is fair to say that most gamblers gamble based on the size of the winnings. So it is reasonable that anyone who played this slot machine while it was defective (or any defective slot machine owned run by the same organization) is owed back most or all of their losses. If they are not willing to pay out the promised winnings then they should not be able to profit off the advertisement of them. Of course I don't know how you figure out when the machine had a glitch or who was using it at the time.
"In 2005, a man from Virginia won more than $11 million US at a slot machine on a reserve in Oklahoma, but was told it was a software error, says the Canadian Press. He settled for a $1,199 US payout."Idiot.
@SimonThat would be a good point if the odds of winning on electronic gambling were actually even. Most games of that sort have programming built in to allow for different combinations to have different odds... to make sure that the house doesn't lose.
"There have been similar cases. In 2005, a man from Virginia won more than $11 million US at a slot machine on a reserve in Oklahoma, but was told it was a software error, says the Canadian Press. He settled for a $1,199 US payout."WHAT A f**kIN MORON!!!!!!!!!!!
It's always been a given that the odds were seriously stacked in the House's favor at these casinos, but after reading this story, only a real idiot would gamble at any casino.
This is sick. Not even getting any news here about this and I live in Winnipeg. Only news I could find about this was on lotteryinsider and that you have to pay to read (not about to spend 300 for a subscription) Just to let you guys know the casinos here are so cheep the Casino managers wouldnt comp their own grandmothers a free drink, let alone a jackpot that was right, nevermind one that they could use the excuse that it "was wrong" or "glitched" . And how the hell do they get away with that anyways. malfunction voids all pays and plays? You cant go into a casino and say after you lose 100 or more and say I want my money back because I was off my game. If there going to do that than everyone who gambles at all should have a tracking card that they put into the machine and if they want to use this excuse on a signifigant pay than everyone who put money in on this "defective" board should be refunded their money. Anyways I just think that we who gamble should start taking a stand against this kind of horses**t and start protecting ourselves. Its hard enough to win your bet back let alone anything worthwhile.......... There should be something there to protect us in the event that we win something. I personally would like to know that if i was playing a machine that offered a win of 200 000$ + that that was the right amount and that I would be paid in the event that I won. And dont get me started on the regulating agencies. Casinos float these people so why would they do anything other than what the casino asks... well PAYS them to do..... "Heres 100 million to certify our boards......" LMAOWho knows, maybe youll be the next one they bend over and give the dance of love to when and if your unlucky enough to win
What a crock. As if the odds aren't stacked against people enough already, now a casino is refusing to pay off a couple winners because of a 'software glitch'.http:/www.blackjake.net

It says this on all slots at all casinos. Sucks, but true. Everybody sees it and reads it before they pull the lever or whatever.

Yeah, going for funny there.Guess I didn't hit it.

This is so much bulls**t. This is why slot machines are pointless, they'll just blame it on "software" if you win anything significant. Jeesh.

why were they being used?Normally a software error is a crash, not a jackpot.. have you ever had a game crash and increase your score?maybe a way to game the system but i find a jackpot crash hard to believe. so are they planning to pay back all the people who put money down on that faulty machine? they have a warning all pay and play void on malfunction. works both ways assh**es. http://waitinggam.infohttp://wetwan.infohttp://whiteals.info
