No thanks.

I always turn on the interactive command line help:
rm -rf /*
I find it easier when it assists me.
madmac625Sep 10, 2010
Wow, that cleared everything right up!

So much free space now
statmobileSep 10, 2010
I won't even give you a courtesy "ha" at your lame joke, especially since you don't even employ the necessity of root privileges in order to execute that.
sudo stfu!

"Otherwise, the vim editor is available on just about any system and can be invoked with the vi <filename> syntax."
>>Vi, famous for its beginner-friendly interface.
mjcecilSep 10, 2010
It's not supposed to be beginner-friendly. It's supposed to be lightweight, fast and powerful.
gh02tSep 11, 2010
I'm not criticizing vi, but it is not what I'd tell someone after explaining how to use cd.

Time to get out of the cave.

Time to move out of the basement and stop letting mommy do everything for you.

# ssh www.digg.com
# rm -rf /
statmobileSep 10, 2010
I'm disappointed by the geek humor here. Since when do you ssh into port 80? And again, no root privileges? This ain't Windows here fellas.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
pat564Sep 10, 2010
Just an FYI, nothing in that command suggests a connection to port 80... talk about pretentious.
kirbiniSep 10, 2010
note to self: never hire statmobile for a network position.
pat564Sep 10, 2010
Here's a tip -- never login and run as root unless you need to. Just add your user to the sudo'er list and execute "sudo" sparingly. That way, when a douche tells you to try "rm -rf /", you won't kill your freakin' hard drive.

go old school!!

Why should I sit there and type in all that garbage, which has to be letter perfect, when I can use the GUI and do the same thing with a couple of mouse clicks? sudo nautilus anyone?
