hardware.silicon.com — Apple CEO Steve Jobs has hit out at fellow tech heavyweights Dell and Microsoft, claiming they have been copying Apple, and put the company's tight-lipped strategy down to a refusal to give its rivals a roadmap ahead of time.

Is it just me, or are the reps for every company hated now? Iwata/Reggie/Kuturagi/Gates/Jobs are all apparently pompous asses. (No one hates Miyamoto)

Um guys, he's being sarcastic? Backhanded? And in a way, he has helped them out - spurring them to further development (so far, the challengers have been weak, but hey, it could happen). Understand: Jobs is a prick. THat's not News. Talk to my brother, he just got downsized by Apple. But he's a successful, rich, smart prick who happens to run two companies that are leaders in thier fields.... he made a snide, funny comment about "helping" his compeditors, when he's really hurting them... it's not too hard to grasp people!

.. he hasn't done that great a job running apple.. whats apple's market share?? seriously apple is the most proprietary company on earth if they could they'd try to make you buy a set of apple hands to interface with their apple mouse. thats a joke by the way. they have been proprietary from the beginning and still apple is the only one that can use apple encrypted music and itunes WILL LOSE MARKET SHARE when people realize that they are locked in if they buy apple. apple's control you like they own you attitude has always been what has kept them so small and they got first to market.. well not first but first with a decent product and software and everyone thinks it will last forever IT WON'T

Sarcam or not, its really hard to get in a lather over anything he says when we remember who came to their rescue with cash a few years back. The combination of of MS cash and an ending of legal hostilities were a big shot in the arm with Apple at a truly low ebb. A few millions dollars, a promise to keep Mac Office and Internet Explorer alive doesnt seem as much but money is money, doesnt matter if its drug money or microsoft. So forgiven me for not being impressed by the rhetoric; we all know who Steve's daddy really is.Hell, even a blowhard like Scott McNealy learned to turn down the anti-MS rhetoric when Billy boy cut that big check (of course. McNealy blew it by laying of 3-4,000 people the same week that 1.5 billion dollar check cleared.)

I know I just read like yesterday that Apple's over all marketshare is up. I also read that they just pasted Gateway? I think? In overall PC sales last quarter to be 3rd, just behind Dell and IBM... so saying their marketshare got smaller is false. I think I read it on macdailynews.com or something.

@skidooer"they have upwards of 30% market share in the home computer market"WTF???Someone needs to step away from their kool-aid delusions for a minute and get a reality check.

the thing is.. Apple has a style going on right now called "aqua" it's the name of their GUI... and also the theme of all their products...When Apple changes this theme to something better, something unforseen.. then it will absolutely kill the rest of the industry if they try to immitate the new style theme.... i can't wait for that day. It all started with OS X's GUI and then slowly trickled down into the product designs (shiny iPod plastic reflecting the OS X GUI etc...)
