"" "I don't get it. Serenity seemed like your typical cheesey Sci-Fi to me. I'm not saying that just to flame. I really do not see why this movie is special. It reminded me of a generic Star Trek movie. Reminded me a lot of Nemisis to be honest. What's the deal?"So true. I could pick out every movie that was ripped off by Serenity. Almost scene by scene. Basically Whedon combined Bladerunner, Star Wars, BSG, Star Trek, Back to the Future III and Hitchhiker's Guide and added the awkward dialogue of Buffy. The result is Serenity. ""Right, Whedon was stealing everything from these TV Shows/Movies ... That sounds more like someone who hasn't seen it and is making assumptions. First and foremost, there is no relation to BTTF (i.e. no time travel). Second of all, Star Wars, Star Trek, and HHG all dealt with extremely large multi-RACIAL cultures. The only humanoids in Firefly/Serenity are....Humans. The new BSG which is what I assume you are referring to, is NEWER than Firefly/Serenity. Not too mention, their plot lines and characters are similarly unrelated. You could point out similarities from any screenplay to another. Are scope of relationships and stories only spread out so far. Joss had 14 episodes of backstory to build on, it's his own world, yet it shares similarities to, GASP, other shows in the SAME genre. *rolleyes*

Serenity was a great movie. Also, if there are any of you out there wondering if you should go see it or not, rent the DVDs on netflix, I guarantee you will be hooked.

Saw it yesterday afternoon, _finally_ with my fiance... 8> We both LOVED IT! I had read the reports that it was very good. I knew it would be "good" but I was like "come one", but hopeful... These reports were _right_! This movie is _way_ better than the box office reflects!I kid you not... I liked Episode III (yeah, yeah I know :) ). But I haven't seen a sci-fi movie THIS good since the _original_ Star Wars in 1977 when I was 5 years old! People are not exaggerating. If you like sci-fi at _all_ - give this movie a chance! I'm glad I did...Also, yes - go Brits! :) And I also think the DVD sales, once word of mouth has time to get out might just be phenomenal! Joss Whedon and the cast just might make a healthy profit yet.... Here's hoping.... They deserve to!
