blog.thetechgurus.net — After finding out he got Dugg, the author of the McDonald's story admits it was a fake. What's even more interesting is what happened after the Digg community shined a light on this guy. Since I broke the story, I thought it only fair to be the one to followup on it.

Man, I really didn't appreciate that. I've had to change my WHOIS info now because I have a family at home. At this point, the childish behavior of so many of my fellow Digg users is getting to a point where I'm feeling sorry the other guy. I have nothing personal against him, yet so many of you seem to be taking a personal stance against me AND him. After all this, I really don't know if I feel comfortable ever submitting anything that might be interesting to this website again.

With credit to Merriam-Webster OnLine (<a class="user" href="http://merriamwebster.com/)">http://merriamwebster.com/)</a>slander: a false and defamatory oral statement about a personlibel: a written or oral defamatory statement or representation that conveys an unjustly unfavorable impressionGood luck suing an internet site (and its members!? HA!) for *slander*.Apparently Digg has one week, or as soon as possible, to remove that. I think Digg collectively chooses "ASAP" where "as soon as possible" is... hmm... how about never? Yeah, that works.

"This post and the previous are to be removed ASAP or Legal action will be taken against Digg.com and it's members for slander. This community has 1 week to remove these topics.posted by TSNFLS (0) at 03:04 AM 3/02/06"I can't wait to see the response to this. Sure the digg community jumped all over this whole ordeal, but I still don't see how digg is at fault for any this. Didn't someone admit to lying? I am unclear of this. If a person did lie, isn't the point of lying to get attention? Boy-oh-boy, did it get attention.
