mattclipper.com — My computer-retarded sister just bought a new PC and was asking for advice on how to keep from getting viruses. I started to put together this guide for her, but then I realized it would be better served if I published it for everyone to read. This is a very basic guide to good home computer security, aimed at the new computer owner.

I hate these stupid comments like this: "Step 1: Buy a Mac (instead of a Windows PC)" what a dumb statement... that is all I ever hear people say in regards to security on digg... first off PCs are better in the general sense and if you take the proper steps PC can be just as secure as any mac...

Forever200... I can't agree with you more, that is, "if you take the proper steps". Unfortunately, it takes at least 5 additional steps with a PC to get where you would be right out of the box with a Mac. The simple truth is, if my sister had bought a Mac like I recommended, I would have never needed to write this guide to begin with.
