LOL @ the 'More Features' flash thing at the bottom. Sort of a cheap Flash knock-off version of the new iTunes/iTMS artwork browser... but lacking in any actual purpose.
ctour95, I would never ever consider buying music on iTS (why pay more for inferior quality, no album art and a total lack of resell value) but I'm much excited about coming subscription services. That way I could sample 1-2 albums _a_day_ for only $15 and order a real copy of those albums I find worthy to pay for.Of course, living in a small country I expect to have to wait for at least a year until MS will roll out this service over here. Now, if only a tv-subscription-service would show up as well.. :-O
It never fails to amaze me just how wrong some companies get "cool." One look at the pictures on that site, and I'm thinking about the Mac commercials (this is what cool looks like to a spreadsheet-loving PC).
>Err.. what ? Looks have ALWAYS been important to me and are one of the reasons I have previously bought an iPod. Oh, and buying things just for looks is a bad thing as function over form any day though it's nice when you get both. The iPod plays music, is easy to navigate, and it looks good. What's the problem again?>No, it's not negligible and it is quite noticable on such a previously small screen. I guess you sit 5 cm from your TV so you can pretend it's as good as the new huge TVs ?It doesn't work that way, on the scale of a big screen TV, you have to move much more than 5cm to see a difference. Do you know what perspective is? The closest something is to your eyes, the bigger the difference in size will be if you move the object closer to your eyes. The difference between a 2.5 and 3 inch screen that you hold a few feet from your eyes can really compensated by moving it 1 or 2 inches closer to your eyes. It's a scientific fact, and your big screen TV analogy simply doesn't work since it's not a the same scale and distance. I guess you'll never accept this, because the bigger screen on the Zune seems to be a major selling point to you.>It's just a nice small thing and small things can really make / break an 'experience' - please get over yourself and stop bashing people because they happen to like something.Well fine for you, sorry for my witty comment, I don't (usually) bash people for what they like. >Locked in a vault, apply restrictions ? If you stopped making things up your already stupid post would benefit. The Zune is an MTP device (Media Transport Protocol) which is a proprietary Microsoft protocol which goal is to secure media inside devices, and secure the link between the computer and the device. I'm not making this up, this is a fact. Record your own song that you wrote yourself, put it in your Zune. Then send the song to another Zune using Wi-Fi, the copy inside the other Zune will have the 3 days/3 plays restriction, even though you'd like your own song to have no restrictions. And you can't copy back this copied tune to a computer, it's stuck inside the Zune secure media vault. It's the way MTP works, and it's just obvious that this is the way they wanted it to work, so that people couldn't use the Zune Wi-Fi to copy copyrighted songs.>No, I'm interested for the afore mentioned reasons and since when can some random moron on the internet tell me that I'm 'anti-iPod' or an 'Apple basher' ? I'm neither and if I was why would I have purchased an iPod, use iTunes for everything music related, use OS X DAILY, give Apple praise for things it does right, etc.Because of you're numerous bashing comments about the iPod and Apple, and you praise Apple for things it does right? Well you must think they do it all wrong since I never saw you praise Apple on digg. I didn't say you were an "anti-iPod", I was talking about the Zune, which is marketed as an anti-iPod device, maybe not officially, but let's not kid ourselves, it's obvious that the Zune is targeting the iPod. Funny that the Zune lovers almost never compare the device to other mp3 players. I see nobody complain about the lack of audio recording on the Zune and pointing out that other mp3 devices have it.>I didn't mention everything and that's why I said "including but not limited to" and I mentioned WiFi in a comment a few minutes later, big freaking deal. Why didn't you mention the WiFi feature? I thought it was the main selling point? I thought it was the differentiating point between that device and the hundreds of other non-iPod mp3 players?>I don't know what your problem is and why it seems you have some vendetta against me but please, if you're going to make stupid and baseless accusations, insult me for my likes/dislikes and in general just be lame, just be quiet, please.I don't have a vendetta against you, but you're constantly attacking Apple and the iPod on digg. If I had a vendetta, I would reply to all of your comments, and I don't. You may find it insulting that I said you're an Apple-Basher, but everytime I see a comment from you about Apple and the iPod, it's bashing. I didn't call you names, I never said you were stupid for what you like/dislike. You on the other hand called me a "random moron" and accused me of making stuff up and making a stupid post. Did I tell you that your post is stupid? No, I just think you're mislead and misleading.superkendall:You can mount the Zune as an emulated USB mass storage device. It doesn't even appear as a standard USB device under Windows, but in some other weird category, but in all fairness it does act like one.But... This only applies to a part of the HD that's used as a USB drive. There's no way to find the music and media played by the Zune by searching in the mounted USB mass storage part of the HD. They are simply not there, unlike on the iPod, where the songs and movies can be found simply by looking for invisible folders in the mounted USB drive. Until you put something in the USB drive part of the Zune, it's completely empty. The songs are elsewhere, in a proprietary file system, inside a secured part of the HD that cannot be accessible through standard means. Only software using the right security certificate can access the playable songs and movies inside the Zune. What Microsoft is really pushing with the Zune is their proprietary MTP protocol. Unsurprisingly, the Toshiba Gigabeat was among the first players to use MTP.
you make it sound like windows copied all of those, when they didn'tand since when has Firefox looked like IE, there totally different, with totally different features. Like the live bookmark feature.

Wow. I guess you can't criticize Microsoft without drawing a comparison to Apple, huh. Childish.

My iPod is getting old and the Zune looks like a great device to me. I'd pre-order one now if I could just use it with my Mac. Oh well.
