aranworld.com — After installing the Zune software, Microsoft's attempt at competing with iTunes, only 600 of the user's 3000 mp3 files were imported. In one case noted, Zune imported 1 song but ignored 14 other songs in the exact same folder. These were all songs ripped from one CD the user had purchased and owns.

> In one case noted, Zune imported 1 song but ignored 14 other songs > in the exact same folder. That's because of the new M$ feature called "Plays NOT for sure" for the Zune!

Seriously why was this not a news when the same freaking thing was happening to IPOD?Let me take this further. I bought zune, and it imported the whole library that IPOD couldnt do for me. I remember I had to import like 30% of the library manually into IPOD. Zune worked like a champ.

@cyfer2000He / she was at first, but the routine gets old. There's only so much deliberate and transparent trolling you can read on a topic before it gets tired. Now, if he / she was better at trolling, or used some subtlety or art in the act, then it might stay fresh.Personally, I'm beginning to suspect flag564 is actually an Apple fanboy, out to hurt the Zune by making it's fans look like irrational, emotionally motivated jerks.

For what its worth, ABBA's "Greatest Hits" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greatest_Hits_%28ABBA_album%29 ) was one of the best selling albums in the world during the 70's. I think only Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" sold more copies in the 70's. Not that this means it is great or anything, but it is one of those records that a VAST number of people owned, so children who grew up in the 70's and had European parents tend to have nostalgic feelings about the record in the way that Americans in their 30's might have about the soundtrack to Grease.

Hello, it's on the internet, that means it must be true!

@simX> It's annoying and I've filed a bug on this, because I like storing all my artwork in the song files.same here. But I think the main issue is the performance of the nice OpenGL albumView GUI. If you have all the album arts in the file itself, iTunes have to open each individual MP3 (or whatever the hell you have there), get the album art out. On my iBook G4 this is relatively slow, and whenever one song ends and the next begins, you will see the empty album art placement first, and replaced by the actual album art a couple of seconds later. Storing album arts seperately probably solved a lot of performance issue, but it's really inconsistent when you think of the programming logic of it.

> So why don't apple and MS have a truly wireless device that can browse the web, play divx, and do other neat s**t like the archos?I have to assume here since I don't for apple nor Microsoft. Adding Wifi puts great burden on battery life, which means the device needs larger battery, and thereby hinder the ability for a slick slim design. PSP has a really big battery, and it's still only 802.11b only. I often use my ipod nano and have it go without recharging for 10 hours of use. If that little sucker have wifi, it'd probably only last 6 ~ 8 hours at best, and I'd probably turn that feature off to save battery life anyways, just like I did withe screen backlight. Since Zune already have Wifi, them not having a browser is more of a "less feature is more" concept. The Zune screen isn't exactly big, and even for PSP, browsing the web is relatively painful. So, instead of being able to do something half-assedly (not an actual word), I believe MS made a conscious decision to do without web browsing. Listening to music on the same network makes sense though. I would not be surprised if they update the Zune player to be able to work with Windows to Stream music from any computer. Of course, you can only listen to it for 3 times and then given the opportunity to purchase it online ..... but that's whole 'other conversation.--Ben
