engadget.com — Well, we'd heard new Zunes were coming tomorrow (or maybe October 16th) and it looks like retailers are starting to receive display units -- everyone, say hello to the new Zunes. Barring some Photoshop trickeration, it looks like we're getting two flash models and a slimmed-down hard drive edition.

I've seen one in person as well (at Target) and tried the UI. It's OK but it's no iPod, certainly no Touch.I thought the controls were really unintuitive when the Zune switched to playing videos (snce now the play and pause buttons are all in wierd locations on its side).

the wmp api is pretty good, piss easy to rip a audio cd. wmencoder also pretty good. ive worked with a quite a few apis/sdks/frameworks/whatever from microsoft and the only thing i really ever had trouble with was directshow (just took a while to get my head around it).microsofts development support is outstanding, they have crap loads of programmers with blogs and always answering questions on forums. not sure what their main product support is like, but they always seem to provide excellent dev support.

Zune 1 looked like a turd. Zune 2 looks like a piece of toilet paper with turd smeared on it.
