suntimes.com — Steve Kreuscher is no more. A Lake County judge granted permission to the Zion man Friday to officially change his name to "In God We Trust." That's "In God" as a first name and "We Trust" as a last name. The 57-year-old artist and bus driver was ecstatic about the name change as he exited court Friday.

@aciriloMaybe we're just insulted because you teach your son to look down on atheists and agnostics for not having all the answers down pat. Maybe it's this "holier than thou" attitude, where you constantly dismiss perfectly good ideas because you've already found your answer. It is human to err, and religion was built by humanity. It's perfectly fine to start off wrong, but when you're faced with certain evidence that contradicts what you believe you have to shed your preconceptions, and start over again. That's how progress is made.It may also have been the dark ages. We don't take kindly to being stoned for saying that the earth revolves around the sun.

@aciriloI'm game for just treating each other nicely. What you do in your own private life is your own business... But remember that while there are many interpretations, what you believe should never come into play in what you treat your children, only what you know.Science can't tell my son there's no god, but it can tell him how the world works. The book you base your faith off of says a lot of things that require taking it's word for it; but we can't think that way if we're going to succeed in life. Challenge your preconceptions, and be skeptical about everything you're presented... especially the things you've held to be true for a very long time. You don't have to be a scientist but you do have to ask yourself, why do I see god in these things? Why do I see anything in these things? Questioning your faith may seem cliche, but it can be very rewarding to see the curtain fall.

@kroftofuWe shouldn't be finding different answers... Life didn't start two different ways. I just happen to have more evidence behind my findings. We can keep telling ourselves that we should respect eachother's views, and ignore these glaring differences, or we can tackle these differences head on, and come to an understanding. I happen to think it's important that you not teach your children based on your personal beliefs... There are plenty of parents who are offended that kids aren't being taught creationism in schools, and I dislike parents belittling scientific theory, and promoting religion so freely and strongly at such an impressionable age; especially when the parents don't know all the facts about the theory in question. It shapes the minds and thinking processes of children very differently from an objective mindset, and saying "We have our differences" doesn't address the issue. So I'm addressing the issue now.
