news.bbc.co.uk— Zidane has won the golden ball award for the World Cups best player despite being sent off for headbutting a player in the final.

We were all saddened to see a legend go out like that. Having his buttons pushed, being frustrated by Buffon stealing their victory, outplaying them for most of the match and a shoulder injury to boot. Clearly, this is somebody who blew a fuse and I would be seriously surprised if he doesn't regret it now.None of us on this site could possibly imagine the pressure and combination of factors that led up to that. I'm glad he won the Golden Ball. Anybody who followed the World Cup can't honestly deny he was simply the best.
"The center ref gave him the card after speaking with the linesman, not because there was a replay on the jumbotron."I was actually WATCHING the game yesterday and the announcers said that NONE of the officials had seen it, but the cameras caught it. I smell a rat...actually, a few rats, on both teams.
Um, 10 red cards over 17 years? Thats fine, i'm sure there are players with even higher totals. Considering he plays probably in the region of 45 matches per season, thats roughly 765 matches that hes played. So, 10 red cards in approximately 765 matches? quite a low ratio if you ask me.
Zidane is a great player. Even his anger will be remembered. A lot of historic players have that kind of reaction. So, the title was, IMHO, well deserved. Even if I don't care much for France's or Italy's football (soccer) styles in the last 2 decades...
All people who think that this will harm his legacy are kind of laughable. If something, it will earn him extra points for Materazzi is a moron.Just look what Cantona or Best did and they are still glorified.
yeah he is a terrible player. i am at work now so i cant go on youtube but if you do and search his name you are bound to find a few videos of his disgusting antics. he has no respect. and deserves anything that comes hiis way.

Exactly! My point is that even though someone does something extremely well, you can't excuse the bad thing because of that.
