If only my hydro company didn't have equalized billing then something like this would be great. Instead I got billed $300 for hydro I didn't use last year because I have used it the year before. f**king retarded monopolistic bulls**t.

I know they're available, and I'm certainly getting one with my first home, but in all 5 homes I've lived in since I moved out of my college dorms, I've never had one. I'm just wondering why we don't see more of them.

That's a good idea, unless the reason you leave your computer running at night is so you can download or seed torrents. I recently tried it in an attempt to have a smaller electric bill, but during hibernation you will lose connection to all peers, causing you to be unable to download or upload anything.I do turn my monitor off, though.

Some motherboards support automatic wakeup at given times. Turn your machine off when you leave the office, get it to turn on twenty minutes before you get there. If a business has a lot of machines and they need to save power, they could easily implement a solution involving wake on LAN. They could even stagger it because of power draw concerns or implement a complex schedule.
