Trees grow from the top and get slightly thicker as they get higher, so it would take quite some time for a problem to occur, if one would occur at all. Also, since the tree is so old already, its probably won't be getting much higher.

This is not really a tech story, but it is pretty cool. When I retire I will probably shun all tehnology and go live in a tree just like this guy.
