In Fort Worth, Texas back around '89-91 there used to be a shop called "Al Coles Guns and Comics". It was of course guns and comic books. My dad used to take me there when I was about 10 because it was the closest comic shop. Of course, I'm guessing that being in Ft. Worth, Texas had something to do with this odd combo. The proprietor ALWAYS wore his sidearm. Was a bit of a strange sight when I was stocking up on Archie comics. Wonder what Al Cole is up to these days.
Did you not read my post? "I'm not saying there aren't gun shops here as there certainly are, just remarking on how rare they are"I live in the Boston area, and I haven't seen a single one of those gun shops that it lists as being there. Perhaps you're not aware of how large that area is. If you shift the map to the right-hand third or so section of the state (the Greater Boston area with a population of approximately 5 million), there are only 16 gun shops listed. Many of these are not gun shops but are sporting good stores. For comparison, there are 50 Dunkin Donuts stores within a single 5 mile radius of downtown Boston, and thousands more in the whole Greater Boston area. Something that only has 16 shops spread out over a 5,000 sq. mi. area is not something you're likely to encounter.I'm not sure what "traveling in my own state" means, but I grew up here and am just as familiar with it as anyone who's grown up and lived somewhere their whole life. I find it humorous that you would take the word of Google Maps over somebody who has spent hundreds of thousands of hours in Massachusetts and has visited nearly every town in the state. Again, during the course of my daily life in Massachusetts, I haven't run into a single gun shop. It's likely that those gun shops are very small and are in very poor areas, and again, I never said that they are nonexistent simply that they are remarkably rare.
@Rain: Chill the f**k out ace, I never suggested you were lying, so knock it off. I just found it interesting that you'd never seen one in such a small area, and yes, you live in a small area. Massachusetts is damned tiny. And as you yourself commented that your friends and you notice the ones in other states, I found it surprising you had never noticed the ones in your home area. And there are no doubt many more than the 16 shown. I did a check on my area, and found several that I knew of that weren't even mentioned on the map. So I suspect there are more than just those 16 in your part of the world.Again, relax, I never said you were lying, I never said you claimed there were NO gun shops in your area, I just found it interesting, again, that you hadn't seen ANY in the time you've lived there. Again, it was obvious from your own comments that you do look for them. If I had thought you were lying, I would have called you a f**king liar. I didn't, so I didn't.
Let me elaborate. ~ Gussie up~ play show and tell with your guns~ then head on over for "drive through alcoholic beverages…" This is regional normalcy?Where I live on the west coast, this is not customary. That's why it's funny. That's why it's posted.
I thought it was a logical next oddity. It goes like this: Stop at barber shop, Gussie up ~ show and tell guns and ammo ~ then drive through for alcoholic drinks.I have heard of fast food chains, but fast drive through booze stands is a bit odd since open containers are illegal in most states, and drinking while driving is illegal in all states.Liquor and alcohol is sold under the same roof in a few states. It's illogical to most of us.It makes as much sense as smoking while assembling fireworks. for instance~http://tinyurl.com/coahx3
