arstechnica.com — YouTube quietly added a new feature today to its popular user-generated video site today called Quick Capture, which allows users to record video directly to YouTube from webcams plugged into their computers. This new feature eliminates steps in the process of producing video content, making it easier than ever to publish videos to the web.

great so now more crappy youtube videos... I mean I like the whole "idea" behind youtube but most of the videos on their are just pointless garbage.

I wonder if they're going to add a live video feature (like Stickam) next? That would be very cool, but it's debatable whether it would fit into their business model.

Sounds like they are covering their ass against <a class="user" href="http://viddler.com">http://viddler.com</a> and other sites that are in development right now. This time next year, video editing and sharing will be completely different from what we have now.
