"which is entirely an advertising site"Actually, a lot of its potential is in marketing. It's similar to advertising, but it's not popup ads, google ads, or banners. It's a new kind of advertising - ads on demand. People will actually voluntarily click to see entertaining videos that hype a product or otherwise integrate it into the video. This is the best kind of advertising, and marketers will pay a ton for it.I predict youtube will be flooded with these types of videos if it survives. At the same time, I don't think it's worth 1 billion (i'd say < 100 million).
$0.30 to $3 for a 300x250 static banner ad. Depends on click thru rate (for CPC ads), ability to target ads to specific content, number of unique users, page views per user all affect this.
hm. I think all the data alone with worth 1 billion. And with bandwidth prices always dropping, it could only be a good investment. They could become the leading provider of video content through the web; the akamai of video services. You could mine massive amounts of video data. Get some phds on board and categorize internet movie content and profit from the fact that 10 million people will watch the mentos diet coke thing.

Wow. YouTube is losing money like crazy and people are valuing it at $1 billion? Sounds like the bubble is due for another burst. Marked lame.
