gizmodo.com— Steve Jobs at the D5 conference: "Wouldn't it be great if you could see YouTube in your livingroom? YOUTUBE ON APPLE TV?"

" think most of us are missing the point here. The fact that Apple TV supports YouTube mean that Apple TV now supports Flash."No, you and others are missing the point here. YouTube videos will be converted to .h264 from the source material, providing in many cases better quality than the Flash version.
the world where i understand business somewhat better than you appear to. I get the concept of podcasts, and rss, but major content distributors are never going to release free content the likes of worldwide hit TV shows, via a free online video + podcast + rss format. Where does their revenue come from? How do they turn a profit?
jbrewin:PS3 can stream from a standard, non-Sony server. It can stream from MS' server! It plays MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264, none of which are Sony proprietary formats. Sony doesn't even HAVE a proprietary video format.MS can stream from a standard, non-MS server.Apple can only stream from a Apple server. So, no, they aren't equally bad in this case.

I've been watching youtube videos, browsing the internet, watching/recording/pausing/rewinding live TV, watching downloaded movies, buying movies off the internet, streaming movies to my mobile phone, syncing with my mobile devices/sharing media between my laptops, and listening to my music library with photo slideshows for the past year.... all on my Windows Vista Media Center PC. Apple TV has nothing on that. Why Apple TV is a dud: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/06/11/100060835/index.htm?postversion=2007053007

Because YouTube videos on the Apple TV will be encoded in .h264 and provide better quality than the atrocious .flv (Flash) format.
