A stones throw away, canadian martimers did fine with $4 / gallon last winter. There were no stories of people not being able to heat their homes, and its not a prosperous area either. I think maine will manage to survive!

30% of our oil used comes from the middle east. 30% of the oil consumed is to heat homes. And the excuse that my home is from 1940 is crap. I lived in a home built in 1926 and we had central heat and air and the whole install was under 10 grand. If you own a home and are struggling to feed your family then your priorities are all wrong, sell the house and rent a smaller place.
