I know 5 people my age that have killed them self's, Each one had the same thing happen to them. The went to a bar got a DUI coming back, there probationary office "recommends" They see a "doctor" for there "depression" (the sate reason behind there drinking) The doctor gives them anti depressant drugs, then a couple a months later they for the first time in there lives consider or comment suicide. If the side effect of anti depressants is increased thoughts of suicide then what is there purpose.

Your statement regarding antidepressants being the cause of suicide is a dangerous generality. Untreated depression is the leading cause of suicide. After the FDA released the black box warning on antidepressants in 2004, many people reacted by not taking antidepressants. That would seem to explains the rise in suicides the following year. The problem with antidepressants is that there is about a one to three month window where the depression isn't fully treated and the patient has more energy to carry out suicide. During those first months of treatment it's extremely important to monitor the patient. Once the antidepressants are fully working they can be life saving.http://www.aacap.org/cs/2008_press_releases/statem ...http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/depression-treatm ...
