forums.guru3d.com — Instruction to get inky blacks and the colour range of the component cable but with the VGA sharpness. The two methods described should work for fairly recent Dell displays and possibly Samsung ones as well. It's mainly the 2405fpw though.

"washed out VGA fix."I was considering postponing a 360 purchase due to the HDMI news, this pretty much seals the deal. Although I presume firmware flashable Toshiba drives won't be part of these newer HDMI 360s..

Yes, I'd prefer the PS3.Cause you don't have scaling issues unless you have a gimp TV, and I don't have a gimp TV. The 2405 (as I am typing on right now) fully supports 720p, so there are no problems when used with PS3.And as to the PS2 games looking crappy, they don't look crappy when I play them, I tried. Either way, PS2 games look a hell of a lot better played on a PS3 than on a 360.

@ FormulaOneIt makes sense. Connect your $600 HD console with composite cables. Unfortunately, you have just proved you do not own a PS3. HDMI and component work just fine. Nice try you trolling qweef. Do you even own a console or HDTV, err, I mean console display device? Working in the Wal-mart electronics department playing the PS3 kiosk doesn't mean you own one dips**t. I mean stand, not kiosk. I have to use words you'll understand.@HappyGimp TVs? You still on that? Shouldn't Sony then let consumers know they'll have issues with their 2yr old gimp HDTV?

The component connection only displays 1080i on a 2405 due to that display not accepting 1080pt. So there is a small image quality difference there. This monitor doesn't exactly have hi end deinterlacing.HDDVD movie playback is really where this fix is important for me, I could happily live with the vga problem just playing games. When playing DVD's it's also less of a pain if you use the VGA.If this is also a problem with that 40" Samsung maybe this is just a Samsung problem. The Dell display uses a Samsung panel.

@SuMizzle - Unfortunately, you've proved once again that you're an ignorant little s**t stain. It was you that brought up the issue of PS2 games on PS3 and although I don't exhibit the problem that was reported (by a 360 fanboy), for those with inferior HDTV's a quick solution is to use composite cables as reported by Engadget. It should be noted, though, that the PS3 can at least play 99.5% of the PS2 library. A pity your obsolete 360 cannot do that same - yet another bitch slap from your master. Also, why do you keep ignoring the upscaling of DVD's to 480p by the 360, you stupid s**t? Why don't you enlighten us with your explanation. Yes, I still can't stop laughing at that one. Like I said, it's evident you don't own an HDTV, you little f**king liar.

I'm in exactly the same situation, except instead of looking ok when reset at the dash, it looks like ass.Is there another way to get at this? Or perhaps better, is there any way to force it to take a black sample?
