engadget.com — So far the Xbox 360 has had its fair share of hardware problems, both large and small, and while Microsoft has dealt with most of these challenges by extending warranties and offering up free fixes, it usually takes its own sweet time to come around, which seems to be the case here.

This is why I won't buy a 360 until the 65 NM chips are used and a better DVD drive is in place.

The nice part about Blu-ray is the disks are a lot more durable than DVDs to start with.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5jEbZt6AIQ&eurl

I would like to get a PS3 after having two xbox 360's break on me, but i'm too addicted to the xbox only games to give it up.

I had the same problem...brand new game and got all chewed up by the 360. MS Said I had to have moved the system...of course they didn't believe me when I said I was 20 feet away.Oh well, I guess now MS owes $60 to Wal-Mart who exchanged the game unknowningly.

I've found circular scratches or scuffs on my discs with my newest 360. I'm sending it in due to many dirty disc errors so hopefully the next one won't do anything wrong but since this will be my fourth I'm skeptical. Circular scuff makrs do bother me something fierce, it's entirely too much money to just "accept" it.

i too bought a brand new 360 in january. halo-scratched 2 discs (one brand new, one rented)with NO rotation/vibration/jostling of the unit and after a long infuriating call with microshaft (where the customer service nerd tells me flat outthat scratching of discs does not occur despite evidence to the contrary. b@stard hung up on me too!)i took a chance and back to Mal*Wart where i bought the unit. got your receipt? no prob!here's a new unit!new unit is much quieter, no scratching (knock wood) but i still have no confidence inthe unit or in microshaft as a corporation.i feel dirty for even insinuating Mal*Wart did right by me, but they did
