xe360.com — Xbox 360 is capable of producing digitial image/audio output. Hopefully I'm not breaking old news to everyone but it is still going to be a interesting view of a Xbox 360 HDMI Cable. The GameStop Universal Premium HDMI Cable is schedule for release on December, 1st 2006 for 99.99 dollars.

Wow ppl charging 100 for a HDMI cable need to die. It's digital, it works or it doesn't. Composite cables matter for quality. HDMI cables don't, a $20 is equal to a $120 monster version.

Wow, you really have a point there. I guess Microsoft and Sony were really shortsighted when they designed their latest systems with HDTV in mind. Not everyone lives in third world video land you know. Some of us have HDTVs, and we expect all the newest gadetry (blu-ray, hd-dvd) to look good on it.

turn the cable box off and press menu on the remote. a menu will come up and you can change the output resolution

alex, of course all consoles are digital devices and internally generate digital images, but most don't support a purely digital video output interface such as DVI or HDMI. Just like all computers generate digital images, but many video cards only have analog VGA output. That said, component video is a very high quality analog channel that most users will be happy with.A digital transport eliminates DA and AD conversion when dealing with a pixel based display (such as LCD) which eliminates signal loss and also eliminates the need for manually configuring geometry, clock, and phase settings.

It doesn't matter what a console 'produces'. All that matters is what it outputs. And up until the 360 and PS3 Super expensive, no console has provided for digital output. Up until this article, the ability of the 360 to produce a digital output has seemed very unlikely. Call me overly cautious, but even now I'll need something more than an article with two question marks in the title and a place holder product anouncement for 3 months in the future. Especially when we've already seen one such product announcment go nowhere. Also you must consider that at a $100 price point they could include an ADC in the cable - making the cable a irrelevent for HDCP. This news makes a native HDMI cable seem more likely sure, but if any stance is idiotic, it would be taking this as gospel.

I am happy with what my 360 has now. Personally I am more concerned about the games then the already great picture.

I use the XBOX 360 VGA cable (1280x1024WS) on my 1920x1080 LCD TV. I have compared quality to component 720p and 1080i, and it makes PGR3's and PDZ's jaggies more bearable. VGA is analog, and I cannot get pixel mapping perfection. It's sized the best I can get it. However if the HDMI cable will have a locked pixel mapping (like when I hook up DVI from a PC to this TV), then it will look better.Only for TVs with less resolution, I will agree with you.

This is just an HDMI converter, doesn't mean anything at all. There is still no HDMI output. That means you lose any and all benefits of HDMI, which is the same as not having it at all. I'm pretty sure there are no TVs that have only HDMI input.

1080p output is not the only reason to go with an HDMI cable. You also have to consider the available inputs on your tv. For instance, my kds50a2000 has 2 hdmi inputs and 3 components (1 is on the front). So what do you do when you are trying to hook up a cable box, xbox360, gamecube, dvd player, and a ps3? You can't hook them all up with component connections without sharing inputs via a switch box.On my old tv, a 36" Sony HS510 CRT HDTV, I had to run my 360, cube, and dvd player through a switch box into one of my two component inputs, and then I ran my HD-DVR cable box through the second component input.. Problem is trying to find a component switch box. But here's a little tip. You can connect component inputs into a composite switch box with minimal degradation in signal quality. I just bought a cheap $10 composite switch box from Radio Shack, and it worked pretty damn well.Back to the HDMI point. Another benefit besides the 1080p support is the fact that HDMI is digital, while component is analog. This can be a big factor when you talk about RF and EMF interference and crosstalk. These are not a factor with digital connections, so you get a much cleaner signal. This is also why I prefer fiber optic audio instead of analog digital. But, the point is that if an HDMI cable is being made for the 360, it still should not be $100.

Great advice, just dont buy Monster because they are a monster rip off. I get mine from http://www.optimization-world.com best prices for HDMI
