pc.ign.com — At the tail end of IGN's interview with Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed at Ubisoft Montreal, she let it slip that the Xbox 360's hardware's superior threading will allow for better AI of NPC than will be found in the PS3 version.

There was a little more to it. Depending on what the main guy was doing (climbing up buildings in plain sight, pushing people over), certain people would stop and stare at him while others would go about their business. And the way the producer hinted at other behaviors, I'd think that certain people (or groups) may try to fight you if you make them mad, while others may run and tell guards. The crowd and exploration aspect looks almost GTA-ish in concept. Hopefully the end product follows through.

I know I've got my moneys worth out of that white box of joy.

I don't understand the same game can have different AI on seperate platforms...

Sigh, all this fanboy bickering is ANNOYING... point is just this - if you own a 360 you're happy it's doing alright... if you looking to get a PS3 you have valid excuses for PS3s misstep... if you looking to get a Wii then you think this is funny... and if you've not completely decided on what system to get then this is only mildly interesting. It's not like this game was the make-it/break-it title for either the 360 or PS3 and if it was then you're prolly a fanboy and just don't know it.

You mean like the game's producer saying exactly what was quoted, that the Xbox 360's AI will be better than the PS3's?

Simply put, PS3>X360

@Ark7,I did read the Assassin's Creed preview on IGN (it was a preview not an interview) and it did NOT specifically say that Raymond said the 360 version would have better AI than the PS3 version. It didn't say that at all.The one sentence you are referring to is, "The hardware also allows for improved threading, which will improve even further the crowd AI."The article doesn't specifically say that Raymond said that. It also doesn't specifically say the AI is improved compared to the PS3 (it may just be improved compared to previous generation consoles). That's also not a quote from Raymond, that's an IGN writer paraphrasing what he heard.

*sigh*It's all speculation until all console's are out on the market.

The developers aren't willing to dive deep into the PS3's Cell architecture. This has nothing to do with the capabilities of either console.

you know what? ps3... sucks. get over it. they have no exclusitivity. the 360 is getting all of the good games coming out for the ps3, like assassins creed, and most likely mercenaries 2, along with their own games, such as gears of war, halo 3, stranglehold, etc. im tired of hearing how much better the graphics is on the ps3, or what kind of processor it has. the graphics dont make the game! the gameplay and storyline make the game! maybe the ps3 will come out with better games later on. but theres still the price factor. are you gonna fork over 600 bucks right now, hoping that theyll have better games in a year or two? no, youre gonna wait till the price drops to about 450 or so. i, myself, am gonna wait until i can get a used one. and if i cant get it for less than 300, then im just gonna say, screw it, its not worth it. ill stick with the 360 and the wii, thank you.

In the long run the Cell processor still is the more efficient cost effective solution as far as cpu are concerned. I believe this helped to keep the cost down of the PS3 and allowing Sony to add other expensive hardware (Blu-ray) to their console. I'm sure we will see many different variants of the cell in the future. Its is possible you might see a Cell chip with Multiple PPEs and even more SPEs. There is no question that the SPEs are more efficient at certain tasks than a general purpose CPU. PS3 is showing promising results from the start. Only time will tell. The Anandtech article is outdated. Not a lot was known about Cell when it was written. It takes a couple years for developers to really get a feel for new hardware. Looking at the xbox 360, Gears of War, is a game that is truly showing the "Next Gen" Leap that gamers were expecting. That took a year for xbox fans to finally get a true next gen game but will have two wait another year before they see the xbox 360 full potential. This philosphy can be applied to the PS3 as well. You won't see a game that truly next gen pushing the PS3's hardware until at least 2008.
