microsoftisawesome.blogspot.com — Modern console makers do not make money from selling consoles but rather from games and services. Microsoft might be willing to take a temporary loss on each 360 sold, in order to ensure market dominance against Sony and Nintendo. The Xbox 360 acts as a gateway to other Microsoft products and services; temporary loss will ensure future success.

"Modern console makers do not make money from selling consoles but rather from games and services." WRONG. Nintendo makes a profit on every console they sell.

actually, it is quite beneficial for the industry, allowing more consoles to sell establishes a platform that will help future software and services appear in the marketplace. You think there would be as much Linux software and services is Linux wasn't free?
