berean, regardless of whether or not the HD-DVD can be used for games, people are going to buy them mainly to watch HD-DVD movies... so your point is moot.

I think blu-ray is going to win, for 2 main reasons.1.higher capacity2.built into the PS3

Bluray will be the next betamax, minidisc, atrac player, pro duo stick, and umd disc. Sony is on a streak of creating formats that fail. When formats war, the least expensive solution prevails.

actually, i just checked bestbuy.com and the hd dvd player can only be added to your wishlist. I know they were selling them.

Your link negates your first statement, Warner is selling videos for both formats; look for "Last Samuri" in your lists http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/hdformats/highdefreleases.html#bluray . I don't know where people were getting the idea the HD-A1 wasn't selling well, although it evidently isn't a very good player.

Your a slow learner aren't you. You completely miss the point of this addon. its not for games, it doesn't matter if games don't use it, because its useful by itself for watching HD movies, which people will obviously want. It will sell enough to be profitable for MS. periphals are niche, but there is a certianly a healthy market for them. The DDR mat is a Periphial Add-on too you know. You can't tell me that isn't a sucessful product.

Actually, I DO understand what was being said. In fact, I fully admit that I may be wrong (though there was no reference given as I asked for). I'm not reposting to make my point about HD-DVD addons, but rather to make a point about the Digg system, which is WHAT I SAID before I reposted that. If anyone's a slow learner, it's you.Just incase the above repost is modded down, here it is again:The problem with any add-on is, as sony found out with its systems, no one uses them. Why? Because no one develops for them. Why? Because no one uses them. Why? Because no one...You get the point. Just like Sony's 4-port adapters never got any love, Microsoft's HD-DVD will be so under-utilized that buying one will be almost pointless.

ah yeah, missed that warner home video blu ray thing, sorry. will try to get my facts straight next time. My point that warner isnt the lone supporter of hd dvd stands though. Apparently it was Universal and The Weinstein Company that both planned thus far to produce hd dvd and no plans to produce blu ray. Universal was the major company that was going exclusive for hd dvd. http://www.keepmedia.com/pubs/VideoBusiness/2006/01/09/1150739?extID=10032&oliID=213
