haha that has worked for me on lots of other stuff. my pc was making a funny noise so i just hit it on the side and voilá, it was silent again. (well, not exactly silent, but def. quieter)
I think this video gave my 360 the wrong idea, mine bricked for the first time ever. With the festive red lights o' death, just after watching this video this morning. Looks like I have to send Microshaft 140 bones to get my four month old 360 working again.
Unbelievable .... My friends box had 3 red lights of death. He gave it me yesterday to sell on ebay as a 'spares and repairs'. I thought i'd have a crack at fixing it and tried a couple of things .. then stumbled on this vid and thought to myself ... "hey why not? its already broken so ...." so i hit it 5 times using same method and ... it only bloody worked!!!!! booted twice now .. will update as and when it dies again :)
Microsoft does not look out for the interest of the customer. They are an outsourcing global source hog, which buys out its competitors in order to giant a greater monopoly on the market. Why give Microsoft more money when you can keep it in your pocket. Save that money, for the pricey games, costly live service, and that cable modem bill. I am finally making money from Microsoft and comfortably studying at law school. With an Xbox 360 Repair Guide you fix any Xbox 360 yourself forever for FREE. Screw Microsoft and fix your Xbox 360 yourself, and if you want to Screw them more, buy their broken products and fix them yourself in less than an hour.http://redringxbox360.com

@R2-D2: I dugg that down, just to see how long it took to fold up after burial. needless to say, it took long enough that I wish I had dugg it up.
