inhabitat.com — Robert Riley’s XR3 is an incredible machine that is able to achieve over 125mpg on biodiesel and a whoping 225mpg in hybrid mode. With its sleek composite shell and ultra-efficient engine we were expecting to see a stratospheric price tag, however we were stunned to hear that the you can build it yourself for around $25,000!

DVD is useless without the plans and builders manual. Just a bunch of home videos of the construction process.

For all of you that say it's ugly, why not buy the electric motor part (since the RQR website explains that the gas and electric drive trains are separate) and just hook that up in a better looking compact car. Might not get 200mpg but it still make a difference and look a lot better

I used to dream of having one of those as kid. But that's all it ever was, a dream

It's available in California only, and even that is several months away. If it's nationally available in a couple of years, then it would be even better, but right now it's not really an option for those of us on the east coast. That said, if the numbers on their website for fuel mileage are true, I want one so badly. 300 mph for a 120 mile trip is fantastic. It "plummets" to 130 mpg at 400 miles (or so they claim), which is still quadruple what I get out of my current vehicle.
