Wow, I just bought 2001 on Blu-ray the other day and I was completely floored. I had never seen it before and it really was amazing I have a lot of respect for Arthur C. Clarke and his work. The movie really made me think and I plan on reading some of his work, its really sad that he is gone though. My he rest in peace.
I dug you up!Even if it's not true about something being on the moon where the monolith was it's a great notion and I enjoyed thinking about it.I only recently saw that movie for the first time... it must have seemed an amazing film long ago when it was made.
@carpeclunes"it turned Dave into a pure energy being, one that does not require a physical body."You mean like the Ascent to Transcendence in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri?

I was told he died 10 years ago. Too bad I didn't have wikipedia back then ;-)

because it was both artistic and amazingly scientifically accurate (and prescient even), a very very VERY rare combination.

"but they painted such a pessimistic view of human nature."Well, you get almost the same view just by watching and/or reading the daily news.
