mydreamapp.com — This is it! After this round of voting, only 3 winners will remain and made into real apps. Amber Mac, Bruce Horn (Finder creator) are also judging, and voters get Overflow and the ADA recipient PhotoPresenter for free. Plus, how often do you get the chance to see a top-level Microsoft exec (father of the Xbox/zune) participating in a Mac contest.

Wozniak's comment for Blossom: "This would only be remotely entertaining if the plant was marijuana or opium and when you did certain things like actually work, you killed your crop. Maybe you could make virtual cash and compete online for the best cash crop. In order to grow the weed and heroin you have to browse certain web sites that would require you be smoking weed to start with; like the Microsoft.com Vista developer site."

I would love to see Steve Jobs comments. I'm sure they would be harsh, then comment on the application's role in the world, and then he make you want to buy a MacBook Pro, even if you already have one.

It is the same thing, but I still believe a whole host of people will raise complaints over having the content taken from their site. It could and would be likened to the practice of hotlinking. If this enables you to altogether ignore the site, as joe90210 mentioned, then this argument will become all the more vehement.

Atmosphere sounds awesome, but I'd need more functionality to justify the resource use. Portal sounds pretty interesting, but I'm not sure I transfer things enough to get any real use out of it. I really liked the incentives they gave for voting. Overflow is great, and I just sent in my order for a t-shirt.

just to finish up...I am not a huge Portal fan because of the wealth of backup options out there. Although the Core Animation use seems great, it just doesn't equal what "My Dream App" would be like.

With regards to the comments on Hijax and how it is a waste of a vote.Yes some of your concerns are valid, but then I think that maybe this app starts slow and then becomes a real hit. Also Hijax has potential while Blossom, Portal, and Atmosphere do not (to me) for the long-haul.

Portal is a sync utility, not a backup solution, so I don't see Portal ever competing with SuperDuper or any other backup app. Portal mainly goes up against ChronoSync, Synk, and dotMac Sync. Portal brings file syncing, application syncing (without need for any app specific plugins), and pretty cool graphics. Whether that is of any use to you or anybody else if an open question. I've got two Macs, so I'd use it. Then again, I'm biased. ;-)

Portal is the BEST dreamapp left.
