kxan.com— Yet another story about different people getting their RFID's implanted for different reasons; all the while paving the way for homeland security to start project citizen scan.

"People really shouldn't freak out about this. It's probably way more secure than your SSN, which is already tied to tons of info about you that the government already knows about. Having an RFID chip doesn't make it any easier for you to be "tracked" by the government-- it actually makes it harder for a thief to steal your identity."Are you for real? I don't know where you live but I don't have to turn over my SSN everytime I buy some cheetos and sixpack. Or walk into a library. Or drive though a toll booth. Or walk on the sidewalk.Exactly how does having a radio signal that uniquely identifies you transmitted at all times from inside your body NOT make it easier to track you?
How much do you think that would cost? Listen to yourself! These theories being concocted for how "the government" could possibly, perhaps, use this technology to track us is ridiculous, they actually defy common sense and logic.RFID just simply isn't a very good technology for accurately tracking people. I'll tell you what is though, that cell phone you carry with you everywhere. Yet nobody bats an eyelid.
Depends on the tags being used. Assuming the tag would be a non-powered one (a passive tag), a few centimetres to a couple of metres at most. Powered ones could transmit further, up to about 300 feet.Yes, it could be inventoried as you walk into a building. But, again, the data stored on the tag can, and would, if anyone has any common sense, be encrypted.
@firesI've installed and maintained RFID systems. We used them to tag our undersea cables back when I worked on oil exploration ships. They're basically a memory chip which broadcasts the data stored in it whenever it passes near an exciter/reader. The exciter puts out an oscillating magnetic field which is turned to voltage by the antenna coil of the RFID. When it gets enough juice, it spits out the data, which is more than what's needed for a simple pass-code. >It can only be the mark of the beast if everyone's RFID id is 666.>That would negate the whole point wouldn't it?The 666 could be part of the pass-code, something like the www part of websites.Or it could be an extra level of login access. For instance, some secure databases have a username, a numeric code (*), and a password. (* -- typically generated by an electronic device with the code changing every minute). >People have been hysterical about the 'end times' since Jesus said he'll be back before >all his disciples are dead:>>"Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall>not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his>kingdom. (Matthew 16:28)>>How do you explain that?At least a couple of individuals never died before being taken up into Heaven in the Old Testament: Enoch and the prophet Elijah. In the New Testament, in the book of John, it appears that John will remain alive, perhaps living here among us, until Jesus' return. This is the same follower that Jesus entrusted with the care of His mother, while on the Cross. "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?" (New Testament KJV, John 21:20-23)As for why St. John might die when Jesus returns, there's speculation that he could be one of the "2 Witnesses" foretold in the book of Revelation. (see Revelation 10:8-11:17) If you want me to explain that just ask. Basically John is told he must prophesy again. The 2 Witnesses prophesy, are killed, and resurrected, and all this happens about the time that the Kingdom of Heaven is extended openly into the earth. for more RFID info...<a class="user" href="http://www.wired.com/news/privacy/0,1848,68133,00.html">http://www.wired.com/news/privacy/0,1848,68133,00.html</a> (Albrecht, coasttocoastam, etc.)for a semi-objective review of the Christian cult classic film from the 80's,"Image of the Beast" ... (in which there's a blurb about forging the mark.) <a class="user" href="http://www.coldfusionvideo.com/i/imageofbeast.html">http://www.coldfusionvideo.com/i/imageofbeast.html</a>ps. regarding the review... as for God going warcraft on the world during those times, it's a spill over from doing away with the major spiritual villians of all time and those in league with them: "the beast," "the false prophet, "death and hell," "mystery babylon," "gog & magog," "the great" (chiefs & kings & great rulers of the earth), and "the dragon. So if you're in cahoots with the dark spirits--don't be surprised when you're cast out with them.
@bbtrevDude, you know Harper got elected right? Have you kept on eye on what he's doing? he's using the Bush playbook right now, issue by issue. Welcome to hell
Depends whether you are a Windows, Mac or Linux user.Mac: As long as Steve Jobs does it personally, and it's got a little Apple logo on it.Linux: As long as I don't have to pay for it. And as long as I can create it myself with off the shelf parts. And as long as I can insert it myself.Windows: Yeah why not, I already put up with loads of crap and pain using Windows, if you want to implant an RFID chip in me to tie me to my legit copy of Windows, and it'll mean I get less viruses & spyware, then that's ok by me. You've already got my soul, so why not take my body as well?
My cat's microchipped and it's really useful because she can't tell the pound I own her if she gets caught. They just call me up if she gets in there. I watched them put the microchip in, it takes one needle and two secconds, doesn't even hurt the animal. For a human it'd be no worse then an immunization needle.I think this would be useful on people for the same reason... If they're knocked out and in the hospital they can be scanned to see medical history, relatives, allergies, ect. If I lost child is found who doesn't know their phone number they could be scanned to see who their parents are. It could be really useful.Yes, people could carry similar objects around but this gives them something they cannot loose or forget and something doctors or police always know where it is. I'd put a microchip inside me providing it's safe. It could save someone's life.

Wait, no, it hasn't sunk in yet. Please go on about this "Beast"/goverment metaphor you seem to have come up with...

Just to clarify: My comment was a joke.

I would never take any chip be implanted in me, because it is against my religion
