How do they get it so shiny blue and pretty? I always see water like that on TV and pictures, but I've never seen it in real life. Where I come from it's all dark blue
You seem to forget that such a large pool is going to attract a large number of tourists, which in turn allows for many jobs to be provided working inside that hotel. In the end, the impact is probably better this way.
That is not the only reason. In Chile the privates beaches are not allow, so this is the way of isolate rich people from the mass. In the exclusive bay of Las Brisas Santo Domingo they do the same thing, building one of the largest artificial lagoon of the wolrd.
