treehugger.com — The world is covered in oceans, rivers and lakes, but when we look at how much actually makes it to our faucets, it only amounts to around 0.08%. When we account for what water is fresh, and in the ground table, and not being used for agriculture or industry, and not too polluted to drink, there just isn't much left.

I don't think it's misleading in the sense that it shows we take water for granted because we are always taught that 75% of the Earth is covered in water. This graphic isn't saying that if a New Yorker take a shorter shower, a Las Vegan will have more water. It's putting in perspective how much fresh versus salt water we have worldwide, and of that fresh water, how much is available to the world at large. I think the point is to show that water is a precious resource, and we need to start thinking of it that way. I believe Las Vegas and much of Calif. get their water from the Colorado. Maybe it's Atlanta that you're thinking of (per your comment below)?
