gadling.com — There are many ice caves throughout the world, but the Eisriesenwelt Ice Caves in Austria are some of the largest known to man. They are located within the Tennengebirge Mountains near Salzburg and stretch for a remarkable 40 kilometers. Only a portion of the labyrinth is open to tourists but it's enough to get a taste.

Seriously, though... Think of the logistics of running that place, preservation-wise. Sure the walkways mar the natural beauty, but it keeps a smaller, more intrepid group from coming through in spike boots. And during the high tourist season (whenever that may be) there's temperature to be worried about. Some pictures showed people filing through almost back to back. How do you limit the effects of body heat when you have hundreds, maybe thousands of 98.6 degree packages flowing through the cave every day. Ugh, what a nightmare...

Few more expedition and development, it will soon turn into a large pool of water.

I've been in these caves. They're really cool (literally). The guide said they're actually filling up with ice, maybe due to ice melting from higher altitudes and coming into the caves then freezing, if I remember correctly.
