hardforum.com — We are not sure what a PPU can do for you today, but the guys at the HardForum have stripped their new BFG PPU card down and water cooled it. Looks like any old GeForce 4 water block might do. What else would you expect out of them?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing that too.

I don't know but that sounds like a pretty insane rig lol.

Who wants to pay $200 for a PPU to get their screen flooded with particle effects? There's no real benefit to these cards yet.I think I'll wait for the Nvidia/ATI+Havok version that's going to be free!

Even worse than heat, is WHERE will these cards even go??my current motherboard is a full sized ATX board, and it only has two PCI slots. I have a TV Tuner and a Sound card, so I don't even have room for a PPU unless I took out another card. Two of my PCI-E slots are blocked (one by CPU heatsink, other by GPU heatsink), so I've got one open PCI-E x16 slot left.

Why dont we just make a case out of a Sub-Zero Freezer.

Word to your mother. I don't get the big hype over this. PPU is a processing unit, just like a GPU or CPU. All they did was take a VGA cooler and slap it on the Physix card instead of a graphics card. Big whoop.

I agree with esansome. Either they will have to start making some MUCH bigger motherboards or else make some extension cords so you can plug them in as a peripheral.I keep telling the companies that there is a market for external GPU/CPUs but they don't listen.
