America sucks because we don't do this and continue to promote greener causes when we barely have a movement, but hey, there's a lot of pr0n in America, thats a plus.
Who cares that they're down often and dependent upon day to day wind conditions? Power can be stored! The only thing that matters is their *average* throughput, because modern methods of mass electricity storage can keep a buffer of however many days worth of energy is thought necessary and smooth over all the interruptions.(Not that keeping other power stations as alternatives isn't a good idea in the case of anticyclones (which lead to several weeks of low wind); but then we have enough supplies of coal, gas, etc. to keep a few non-renewable stations on standby. 10% fossil fuels is a hell of a lot better than 90%!)
You as a casualty of US educational mantra "no student left behind" apparently never learned to do a web search."Energy Payback Period for Wind Turbines Two to Three Months RequiredModern wind turbines rapidly recover all the energy spent in manufacturing, installing, maintaining, and finally scrapping them. Under normal wind conditions it takes between two and three months for a turbine to recover all of the energy involved. "When will we stop using Oil?"When whiny "eco-warriors" stop using alarmist bunk to push their anti-corporation agendas and start using facts to promote reasoned debate so that we can find a real, suitable alternative.I'm not against wind energy by any means, and I certainly think there's plenty of open space across windy regions of the US for wind to provide us with a great deal of energy, but when these technologies become associated with people droning on about greed and doomsday destruction of the Earth, they're certainly not helping.
See my post above about Cape Wind...also please learn about something before making comments that only vaguely make sense. The proposed wind farm is not "in Nantucket."
"How efficient they are at converting wind energy into electricity is almost irrelevent"No. This determines exactly how many wind turbines you have to build in order to power 1 million homes. Wind turbines / solar energy currently require many times the amount of land space that nuclear energy would require.
Listen this is what Obama has been proposing throughout his campaign, but until he is in office there is not a damn thing that he can do about it. He can not hurry his inauguration; the date is set and the time is near, but not here: YET!He is ready. His team is assembled. To The User that posted America Sucks: STFU! f**k wind energy.Do we really want acres upon acres of open land littered with colossal wind turbines?

The people digging R55741 down have absolutely no sense of humour. "yea but won't that slow down the wind and create an even bigger problem?"LMFAO.
