latimesblogs.latimes.com — Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory dedicated the world's largest laser system today. The National Ignition Facility, with its 192 giant laser beams, fills up an entire 10-story building in Livermore, Calif. Scientists hope lighting a mini-sunfire inside a tiny hydrogen ball will create an endless supply of safe and carbon-free electricity.

Does anyone know where that weird phrasing fad originated? It's such a short and variable phrase you can't really do any meaningful searches to find info on it.

Remember what happened to Dr. Gordan Freeman In Half-Life? A portal to Xen opened up and an ass-load of monsters came out. Not good.

I don't care what other people think, only what I know. I know what is like to work in government, and on government projects. There is no such thing as failure in government. If something fails or doesn't work, they continually throw money at it, until it limps along and is replaced by a new project. Nobody cares because it is not their money at risk. The people who are critical of the status quo are marginalized. You either play the game or you leave the field in frustration.
