yeah..then it made game of the year on both ign and gamespot of 2004..*ahem*It has come a long way though. They are always growing faster then they can handle, and theyre always releasing new updates..I'm not too big on the expansion pack though. It 'could' be better. Although, they have enough fans that will spend as much money as needed on newer game content to not even care. : /
Of course people are going to like a game that has no death penalty, no risk of getting chased by mobs farther than 10 feet, and holds your hand at every step with "touches" like a map, instructions on where to go at every step, tells you exactly what to do with everything you loot. It's a total Fisher Price game with no emphasis on player discovery, risk, or skill. The masses want something that takes no skill or thought and the subscriber counts reflect that. Real players will gravitate to other MMOGs.
You mean people don't like to waste their time playing a game that's design is far and away worse than WoWs? I may criticize WoW designers a lot for clearly poor choices, such as Wand Spec Talent for certain classes (I wouldn't want to be the person who seems to not realize they are dumber than everyone who plays those classes and knows how pathetic of a talent it is and have clearly voiced it), but the game is pretty much the best MMO designed right now that you can play. Unfortunately, they really didn't revolutionize much of anything in the MMO genre in typical Blizzard fashion. Perhaps in another 10 years we'll see someone release a truly groundbreaking MMO instead of raping the market for only the huge profits they can reap.
I believe it also, I have tried several other MMOs and just couldn't get into them the same way I did with WoW. I even kept my subscription going for a little over a year."I wonder how many will start or come back with the addition of the new expansion."I'm sure lots of people will return with the coming of the expansion. Several friends of mine, myself included, will be returning to the game this winter ( If it comes out on time ).
Terrible and not news -- MMOGChart is not an accurate website. It's one guy who relies purely on speculation for his numbers. Numbers are also reported differently by each publisher. Are you talking about monthly subscribers? What about games where it's pay-to-play? What about free games that rely on advertising? What about registered users as opposed to actual active accounts? What about games where most players actually have multiple accounts? These numbers being reported are not apples to apples. And the site referred here is erroneously making huge assumptions off of that.WoW does have a lot of subscribers, but even still, it's inaccurate to lump together a monthly subscriber in the States along with a Chinese player who pays per hour to play. If you look at the real worldwide numbers, WoW does not have the most subscribers or unique registered accounts by a long shot. WoW does have 6 million players worldwide, but that is not half the market. For example, there are people who play multiple MMOGS. Also, there are more popular games such Lineage, which is huge in Asia, but nonexistant in the States.
After playing two characters to 60 (one of which has been all through MC and parts of BWL) and another two above 40 I can say that in my opinion the begining levels are just as much fun as the ending levels. But as with any MMO you really have to have a taste for the genre. If you've been weened on Nintendogs, WoW likely isn't gonna be your next game...And yes, I'm addicted.
take frequent crashes, 100% CPU usage, problems with Video cards (Nvidia and ATI), random disconnects, cheating and "Warden" and you have the biggest MMORPG with the MOST problems. I have been with WOW for over a year and have ended my subscription. However, not before they charged me for a month after removing my account, they said "no refunds". There warden program causes my CPU to rage 100% during the game, lending me to believe that IT IS what is causing lag and so forth in the Game. Warden is also uninhibited in what information is sent back to blizzard... anything they want. With all of this said, i am shocked that so many people play it. then i realized... there using the same tactic as AOL. AOL, said if you signed up for a free trial your a subscriber, and they would leave you as a subscriber for awhile after you didn't even use it.. this cooking there numbers.I don't have an account anymore, but, i do have 14 days left on the account till it's nonfunctional. this is considered as me having an account... then take the "Free" accounts.. and you get more players... also, do they count people who played, and now don't since they never delete accounts? No, i think that this is just more nonsense, and not accurate numbers.this says allot about what there looking at and how it's not 100% accuratehttp://www.raphkoster.com/2006/06/01/measuring-mmos/even if it is, i still don't get it... something that buggy ... says allot for continual beta programs.

If you stopped playing at 60, you missed half the game.

Umm, no PVP? There's world PVP, dueling, and instanced Battlegrounds. There's lots of PVP, with more world PVP coming with the expansion.
