macleans.ca— 'We're in the early stages of what I would describe as the Third World War, and, frankly...we don't have the right attitude.' -- Newt Gingrich, on NBC's Meet the Press, July 16, 2006

Yes there is a world war going on. It is the US oligarchy's war to seize control of the world's oil. This is all this is about. There is no war on terror, just the war for oil and for internal social control by the US oligarchy. There is no war on drugs, just the war to marginalize and to imprison in the US Gulag ethnic minorities, the poor and disaffected youth in the US.It doomed to failure for as my fellow Canadian, Leonard Cohen put it:"Democracy is coming... to the USA" - Eh
I don't see how a war in the middle east could be considered a 'world war' surely at least china & Russia would need to be involved and that ain't going to happen cos they don't really like them either. A war between the major powers is never going to happen, as they all know it would be total annihilation on all sides. And if there was an 'all out war' in the middle east I'm sure it would last all of two weeks like the last ones to wipe out all substantial threat (ie the Syrian/Iranian forces) - that's without nuclear, probably a couple of days if they want nukes. I'm sure even the french armed forces could manage that. The problem we have in Iraq & Afghanistan are that we were restricted to the amount of force we could use as we wanted to preserve & rebuild the countries after, and protect the civilians - so many of the bad guys survived, and more bad guys are coming from Iran/Syria etc that have not been touched. If it was all out war I'm sure preserving any infrastructure and protecting civilians would not be an issue so we could use a lot more force to ensure they don't have a chance to fight back after, or would be so afraid they wouldn't want to.I really don't understand how any sane person in the middle east would want an all out war with us - just look at Israel now, do they REALLY think they have a chance??
China is prospering right now because of us. Ameican business is building infrastucture there like they've hardly known. I'm not sure they'd rush to battle against us. Not to mention we're both nuclear powers.
"To win, we must fight the root causes of terrorism" No doubt you're going to ignore the religious dimensions of the conflict and focus on the social and class contradictions. When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail.
Humans don't fight wars for the sake of religion or ethics. Humans exploit religions to fight wars. And what are the wars really about? Resources. Yes, the Islamo-Fascists want our heads, but only while we want their oil. The moment, the MOMENT that we pull out of that region and employ alternative resources, they start killing each other... for their oil. There's no such thing as a war for religion. God was pretty clear about that "Thou shall not kill" stuff.
America should really fix its racial relations within the country. Minorities in the US still have second class citizenship.Civil Riights Acts may not be renewed in 2007 thus not allowing minorities to vote in their own country.Anyway WW3 is going to happen. We can't doubt it.. Just I wish America would focus on its domestic problems..
Hitler had plans to eventually invade and incorporate Switzerland into his greater Reich. They were sweating bullets for the first two years of the war. You're as neutral and the other guy lets you be.
Hey! Here's a fun party trick: substitute the words "Christian" and "Christianity" for "Muslim" and "Islam" and you can magically transform one set of ignorant rants into another. Try it for yourself and see just how little intelligence it takes to reduce it down to simplistic "we're good" and "they're evil" kinds of arguments. Are you forgetting, or did you not know, that the "good" crusaders re-discovered all the smart things of antiquity from the "evil" Muslim hordes; plus they picked up a few new things like libraries full of advanced medical knowledge, science and technology and simple humanizing tricks such as bathing and hygiene?Personally, I can't see how simplifying everything into "Us-and-Them" Christianity is preferable to the mindless killing of the religious zealot: it really comes down to the same type of ignorance.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Hitlers rise to power was a fluke and would have never happened if it were not for the depression.Hitler never had the popular votes to become Chancellor of Germany, and the only reason he got the job was because the German leaders entered into a series of back-room deals.Hitler was appointed chancellor by then President, Hindenburg. It was Hindenburg's Death and the passing of the Enabling Act that Gave Hitler total control and made him into a dictator. If you are trying to compare the U.S. to Nazi Germany and Bush to Hitler, then you are just being ridiculous! Bush is not a dictator,we do have a congress, unlike Germany under Hitler and he will be out of office in less than a year!
Please, people, get a grip. If the US was really an imperialistic power out to conquer the Third World and take its resources, do you think we'd be paying over $118/barrel for oil? The US is the most benign global power in history. We don't steal from people, we trade with them.
If there is going to be a WWIII, it will be the last conflict. Earth will be relieved of us as a temporary nuisance and nature will recover and evolve further. Ironically, all this because of an imaginary space daddy. We sure are a fu&*ed up species!

@MrTBagDude, lay off the f**king crack. You sound like the only thing you ever watch on tv is Fox news, while Ann Coulter rams her c**k up your ass.

Why do people want it to be wwIII? Because then it will become acceptable to use larger weapons and kill more civilians.
