playthree.net — Woolworths retail have been trialling both Blu-ray & HD-DVD product ranges. Since the PlayStation 3 release Blu-ray movie sales have seen a steady increase, and they are now rolling out Blu-ray movies across all their medium to large stores. However Woolworths will be dropping all HD-DVD lines.

It doesn't affect *nix based system. Put it this way, Sony straight out, does not like MS or Windows. Even so, do people boycott, midway games, Ubisoft or Codemaster for having Starforce in there cds. Unlike the Sony's rootkit, it was not up in the air, potentally be exploited, Starforce straight out and break your system, slowed your computer and broke your Drives. Well, that's if you even BUY Mainstream music...I dont, I buy from independent artists. YOU should too.

my parents bought my NES at woolworths when i was a kid. come to think of it, they got me a c**katiel and two hamsters at woolworths as well.

And where the hell do you get this information from? I'm making an educated guess, but I think Sony will make 10x more on licensing it's Blu-Ray format than on games.

Blockbuster is exclusively Blu-Ray, that's not good for the HD-DVD market, especially when Blockbuster is the largest video rental company in the US.

You know that very few Blu-Ray releases actually use MPEG-2, right? The vast majority are AVC, and have been for some time.
