Having experienced the aluminum Japanese Yen, steel doesn't seem so bad. While in Tokyo, I went to a restaurant that had on display one of their menus from 1910. The prices were denoted in hundredths of Yen. Now, the Yen is treated the way we treat pennies.Debasement of currency is not an American phenomenon.
